Ford Capri Mk1 1600 GT
"The car that reshapes your life" ... as the name implies, it's the hot one. A moving machine with the GT engine equipped with the twin-choke Weber carb and a stubby, close-ratio all-synchro floor-shift.

Outside, it carries its own GT style highlights. Near-black grille; near-black panel across the rear; side-stripes; non-reflective black engine-hood panels; hood-lock pins; racing exterior rear-view mirror and wheel trim rings.

You can see what's instore for you inside. Everything for your comfort and to make your driving fun. And an instrument cluster that really lets you know what's happening.

GT standard equipment includes: Foam-padded buckets with soft vinyl trim, Teak-grained centre console, Carpeting throughout, Airflow ventilation, Freshaire heater and demister, Padded doorpull/armrests with grab handles, Clock, Cigar lighter, Teak grained dash, Front package tray, Tachometer, Odometer, Temperature gauge, Oil pressure gauge, Battery condition indicator, 1600 GT special engine, 4-speed all-synchro floor shift, Serrvo-assisted disc brakes, Reversing lights, 5-inch wide road wheels, Fat radial ply tyres.

Options include: T-Bar Automatic Floor-Shift, Sports Road Wheels, Sports Steering Wheel, Long Range Driving Lights, Push-button Long Range Radio

Special Note: In February, 1970, the 1600 GT was replaced by the 1600 XL, to allow for the newly arrived 3000 GT!

The 1600 XL shared all the General Engine Data that was used on the original 1600 GT model.

Ford Capri Mk1 1600 XL
"Glamour. Luxury. Eager to go." was how the official Ford brochure described the Capri XL! Capri XL . it has to be the glamour-and-go car of the 70's. Just take a look at what it has to offer in the go department . . . a 98-horsepower, two-barrel "CrossFlow" engine matched with four of the fastest, all synchro, close-ratio gears you've ever handled.

A tuned suspension makes itself known in the remarkably quiet and smooth ride. The track is wide for sure-footed stability. Brakes are servo-assisted all round - discs up front, drums at the rear.

What about the glamour? Well, one of the reasons the XL looks so sporty and cool is we added a few items to its classic fast-back lines. Fine tape-stripes along the side. Black panel across the rear. Rocker-panel mouldings - with black paint below the mouldings.

Inside . . . nothing less than the lap of luxury. Deeply-cushioned, contoured and adjustable-rake bucket seats. Deep-pile, wall-to-wall carpeting. the comfort of climate-control with a heater/demister and Aeroflow ventilation. A teak-grained instrument panel with easy-to-read, easy-to-reach controls and instruments.

You can add items to make yours the one-of-a-kind Capri you want it to be. A complete list of options includes T-Bar automatic, Vinyl Roof, Long Range Driving Lights, Tinted/Laminated Windscreen, Sports Road Wheels, Full-styled Wheel Covers, Sports Steering Wheel, Nylon-weave Seat Trim, Centre Sports Console - including Electric Clock, Exterior Racing mirrors, Long Range Radio and 165 x 13 radial tyres on 5-inch wide road wheels.
